Part III: Training and professional's career
We are going to enter into the education of the people. What is your personal profile? What is your level of education?
We have half millions of people in Spain, 86.000 in Catalonia that say that work in the ICT sector. We will ask them: What did you do? What did you study? And from this perspective we will see that the people who is graduating as an ICT engineer, with a technical certificate in engineering in a ICT, this you know that is going to mix with the graduate figure, as you are doing. But this is a statistic of what’s now in the market. We see that there are more engineers, what they said before “higher”, five years that are not technical engineers, three years.
After, here we have professional formation graduates (FP), we have some too; we have another university qualification, as we said before: physics, mathematics… some that made economy but is working in ICT and therefore is recycled; another FP graduations that aren’t ICT; and the people that don’t have graduation but have been studied for their part or the company have educated him and therefore are producing in the ICT sector.
And this is, therefore, a figure that I say reverser pyramid, because in many economic sectors as you have there are a lot of workers and as you are ascending, “boss” are few. Therefore, this is a pyramidal structure nearly reversed.
The colors try to differentiate the workers training that are in dark green, the ICT sector. And in light green, other sectors, Why? Because we have workers, that aren’t actually in the ICT sector. We have, for example, that lawyer's office that as I said, is a big office it has a system administrator. Because when the network breaks or the computers they need someone that solve the problem. Therefore, their economic activity will be localized inside that is the services sector, the legal sector, but it is a professional that comes from the ICT sector to another sector for offer services. This means that, more or less, the level of education from other sectors is similar.
An ICT engineer basically is in a technical position inside the company. It is, Where will they work? To the informatics department, or IT (Information Technologies)... but definitely you will be in a technical field, evolved of engineers, with other people that have a similar education as you, and adding value to the company in a technological field.
But this does not happen with all the people. There are people that work in the management of the company. Working less hours in a technological field, programming, making network unfolding projects... for example, or making production, and start to lead a team. Therefore, start to be under the direction of another and ends promoting the direction of the department.
In a poll that was made a few years later, says: The field where these workers are working is the fields that say “Designs and implementation of systems and informatics applications”. Basic programming and analyses. This means a 40% if you are in the ICT sector or if you are not.
By contrast the operation in Telecommunication task, a 25% as the people who is in the ICT sector and instead in the No-ICT sector there no anyone that is making Telecommunication’s operation. The companies, thus, this is what they do, from the point of view from the occupation they're few professionals.
And successively… We will explain two more: technological guidance and consultants in ICT solutions. The consultant’s and the guidance are a very important value for all the productive sectors and, therefore, there are a lot of consultant’s companies that hire in a massive way engineers.
